KT Japan Officially Launches 'tt mobile' in Korea for Koreans Planning a Long-Term Stay in Japan
KT Japan has officially launched tt mobile, its MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) service for Koreans planning a long-term stay in Japan, in Korea. Before departure, customers can apply for a Japanese phone number in Korean using only their passport.
A Japanese phone number is needed to open a bank account, complete identity verification and register a local contact number, but until now it could not be obtained before arriving in Japan. Japanese-language sign-up procedures, paperwork, and applying for and activating a line locally have also been a burden for people settling in Japan for study, a working holiday, an overseas assignment or business travel.
Apply in Korea before departure
Customers apply with their passport and PASS simple authentication, complete sign-up in Korea and receive a USIM card. After arriving in Japan, they request activation and can then use a Japanese phone number on the NTT DOCOMO network. Charges are paid with a card issued in Korea in the subscriber's name.
Plans available with a passport
